Emily

Hello, I'm Emily, a self-employed florist operating from my home workshop in Bristol, nestled at the bottom of my garden in the southern part of the city.

Growing up in Bristol, I exhibited a strong creative flair during my school days, with Art, Drama, and Design and Technology being my preferred subjects. At the age of 15, I embarked on my first Saturday job at Diana Porter's establishment on Cotham Hill. Surrounded by contemporary jewelry designers like Diana, my interest in design soared. Whether it was sewing, painting, crafting jewelry, or arranging flowers, my passion knew no bounds. Despite completing a foundation course in Art and Design at Bower Ashton, my confidence wavered.

Post my time in art college, I took a detour and pursued a career in property. Nevertheless, the longing for a creative outlet persisted. During my wedding, as my father delivered his Father of the Bride speech, he affectionately reminded me of my 'unique and very personal eye for color and design, always creating something interesting, pretty with a modern twist.' It was then that I made the decision to wholeheartedly pursue my love for flowers and design.

What started a part-time hobby crafting arrangements for friends and family, THE LANE FLORISTRY emerged in 2015, spurred on by considerable encouragement and support.

Our primary goal at THE LANE FLORISTRY is to craft uncomplicated, sophisticated, and cost-effective arrangements using exquisite flowers, all while ensuring our couples and clients are engaged in every element of the creative process.

With over a decade of experience in the floral industry and fueled by a recent stint in the Middle East, i returned bursting with inspiration and ideas, I decided that the time has come to fulfill a life long dream – establishing a flower school.

THE LANE FLORISTRY FLOWER SCHOOL is set to become a hub where I, alongside other accomplished florists in the industry, will conduct workshops and masterclasses both in the workshop and on location. These masterclasses will serve as a platform for us to share our insights and tips with budding florists who are just embarking on their careers or those aiming to refine their skills. Our guidance and lessons will equip them with the necessary tools to build a thriving business, offer personalised consultations, and excel in their craft.

In addition to the masterclasses, there will also be a variety of workshops which will be available for individuals seeking a delightful day out with their daughters, mothers, or friends. Whether for a single day or an extended period, participants can engage in learning new skills - designing and creating with the most exquisite blooms.

Scheduled for launch in 2026, we are now accepting pre-bookings. For additional information about the school, kindly click on the provided link below.
